The Russian Textile Week 2018 opens at Expocentre Fairgrounds

Today the Russian Textile Week opened at Expocentre Fairgrounds. It is the third edition of this major series of events which are held by Expocentre AO jointly with Souzlegprom – the Russian Union of Textile Industry Enterprises with support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and in partnership with Messe Frankfurt, Germany.

The Week brings together several international textile trade shows held in Russia and its key event, which is the 5th edition of the Legpromforum International Textile Industry Forum

Expocentre Fairgrounds simultaneously hosts the 18th edition of the Inlegmash International Exhibition for Textile Manufacturing and Processing, the 10th edition of the Techtextil Russia International Exhibition for Technical Textiles, Nonwovens and Protective Clothing, the 4th edition of the Interfabric. Spring International Exhibition for Fabrics and Textile Materials, and the InteriorTex International Exhibition for Home Textiles.

According to Deputy General Director of Expocentre Mikhail Tolkachev, all these trade shows cover related sectors and are united by a single program of supporting events. 

This seamless combination of trade shows allows industry professionals to see trends and developments in all sectors of the textile industry demonstrated by Russian and foreign companies.    

The exhibitors of Inlegmash 2018 offer the best solutions for technical upgrade of Russian textile enterprises. As always the show serves as a meeting point for industry professionals, manufacturers and consumers of textile machinery from all over the world.

This year it welcomes 150 companies from 20 countries. India and South Korea have national pavilions. In comparison to the edition of 2017, the number of exhibitors has increased by almost 20%, and the floor space by 30%.  

President of Souzlegprom Andrey Razbrodin noted with satisfaction that the figures of Interfabrics had doubled.  

In his speech at the opening ceremony State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov emphasized that the growth of the Russian textile industry was one of the strongest among all processing industries overseen by the Ministry of Industry and Trade. In 2017 this growth was recorded in all textile sectors if compared to 2016. Production of textile products increased 4%, clothes close to 4%, and leather products 4.5%. The highest growth of almost 25% was in production of synthetic fabrics. Export increased 17% to make up 1.4 billion USD.

Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Elena Dybova expressed confidence that Expocentre’s highly professional team which managed the trade shows and the organizers of supporting events had done their best to help the exhibitors and visitors to get all necessary information about the textile industry, exchange experience and know-how, generate sales leads, and find ideas for their business development. "The trade shows demonstrate every step of textile production from raw materials and equipment to end products", she said.

Executive Vice President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Victor Cherepov, General Director of the Russian Haute Couture and Pret-a-Porter Association Evgeny Yaschuk, and Director of the Brand Management Technical Textiles & Textile Processing at Messe Frankfurt Michael Janecke also congratulated the events' participants and visitors on its opening. 

Right after the Week's official opening, an award ceremony for the winners in the First Russian   Textile Design Talents Competition took place. The competition is organized by Solstudio Textile Design and Souzlegprom with support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
