Textile Industry Week kicks off at Expocentre

Today, Expocentre Fairgrounds witnessed the opening of the 4th edition of the Russian Textile Week 2019  annually co-organised by Expocentre and the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of the Textile and Light Industry Soyuzlegprom.

Moderator of the opening ceremony, Sergey Bednov, Expocentre's Director General, expressed gratitude toward Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Union of Industrialists and  Entrepreneurs and Expocentre's veteran partner – Messe Frankfurt (Germany) for their assistance in putting up this broad-scale event.

He reminded of that the Week traditionally umbrellas at Expocentre leading international trade shows – Inlegmash (textile manufacturing and processing), Interfabric (fabrics and textiles), Techtextil Russia (technical textiles and non-wovens) as well as Legpromforum (4th international textile industry forum).

The Week's format offers the professional audience an excellent chance to view a gamut of innovative trends in the textile industry showcased by the national and international companies and covering the full production circles from raw materials, latest equipment and processing technologies through to the end product. Exhibits on display are designed to manufacture garments, footwear, a variety of textiles and items specifically applicable in certain industries and the social sector.  

This year's Inlegmash edition welcomes 87 companies from 12 countries across the globe. The Republic of Korea is participating with a national pavilion, said Expocentre’s Director General.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, State Secretary–Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Victor Evtukhov read out a welcome address from Dmitry Kozak, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government. In his message vice premier stressed that the Russian Textile Week has become a long-established well-recognized platform for discussion of the industry’s issues with participation of the leading producers, financial and banking structures, various companies, analysts and experts. He also noted that domestic textile industry enterprises have built up a vast potential. Their production volume in 2018 reached the figure of 462.9 billion rubles and for the last four years the industry has been keeping up a positive dynamics growth.

On his part, Victor Evtukhov added that Russia's textile industry is currently facing the next stage of development. Systematic crises-response measures adopted in the industry 2016 helped not only preserve but also build up production, introduce new types of products, said he.

Within the official opening there also took place the award ceremony of the Textile Design Talent international professional contest winners.

On the occasion of the opening, participants, guests and organisers of the Week have been greeted by Elena Panina, member of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Council, Elena Dybova, Vice President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Andrey Razbrodin, President of Soyuzlegprom, Victor Cherepov, Executive Vice President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Michael Janecke, Director of Messe Frankfurt Exhibitions GmbH's Techtextil and Texprocess brand management.

The opening ceremony was closely followed by the panel discussion headlined "Domestic textile industry in today's economic environment: challenges and prospects" and chaired by Andrey Razbrodin, head of Soyuzlegprom.

The discussion involved representatives of the Foundation of Industry Development, Federal Customs Service, Russian Quality System, Moscow Export Center as well as heads of industry companies. They discoursed upon a broad range of issues related to the state support of the textile industry, factors affecting competitiveness, potential growth and many more.
