Russian Textile Week, a significant event for professionals in the textile and garment industry, has opened at Expocentre Fairgrounds. The Week is organised by EXPOCENTRE AO and Souzlegprom – the Russian Union of Textile Industry Enterprises, and supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

The Week unites large exhibition projects Inlegmash 2022 and Interfabric 2022. Spring, as well as an extensive conference programme which includes the textile industry forum Legpromforum and the 2nd Inlegmash International Industry Conference.

One of the key events of Russian Textile Week has become the Inlegmash 2022 exhibition. More than 100 companies from 13 countries are participating in the exhibition this year.

Oleg Bocharov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Padalko, Vice-President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Andrey Razbrodin, President of Souzlegprom, Viktor Ivanov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Interregional Public Foundation for Support and Development of the Flax Industry “Flax Union”, Tatiana Lugina, Head of Belarus Concern BELLEGPROM, Sergey Selivanov, First Deputy Director General, took part in the official opening ceremony of the Week.

Oleg Bocharov recalled that over the past 15 years, the industry has gone through numerous crisis situations. "This is a time of opportunity, - said the deputy minister. And those who are able to make prompt decisions will obviously increase their business. It is important to emphasize that the government has a tough stance today: all enterprises and all labor collectives should be preserved. Because of the departure of foreign companies, we will not let the industry suffer".

Vladimir Padalko said that, at the request of the government, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation was working on measures to support the economy. "The garment industry is lucky that the block of major partners is in Asia, - continued Vladimir Padalko. Raw materials come mostly from our former republics and Asian countries. We will try to re-establish relations with them in a short period of time”.

Andrey Razbrodin believes that since foreign brands are leaving Russia today, this opens a window of opportunity for our manufacturers. They need to unite and create new programmes.

Sergey Selivanov welcomed the participants and said that the Week had already become a traditional and significant event for the entire industry. "Today, Russian Textile Week is an important tool for finding new niches for domestic business, - Sergey Selivanov said. As for the congress and exhibition industry as a whole, the pandemic has shown that it is ready for the challenges. The number of congress and exhibition events at Expocentre Fairgrounds last year increased almost threefold compared to 2020. The exhibitions have once again demonstrated that they are a very effective mechanism for the recovery and further development of the Russian business”.

Russian Textile Week runs till March 17.
