INLEGMASH 2023: technical textile is a trend

14 / 03 / 2023

The conference programme of Russian Textile Week and the INLEGMASH International Industrial Conference at Expocentre Fairgrounds included the Public Meeting of the Souzlegprom Committee on Nonwovens and Nonwoven Products.

The event was aimed at attracting the attention of managers of the Russian textile and garment industry to the increasing role of technical textiles, which was officially announced as a trend of the INLEGMASH 2023 exhibition.

Andrey Razbrodin, President of the Russian Union of Textile Industry Enterprises, in his address to the meeting drew attention to the fact that the share of technical textiles in the total turnover of the Russian textile industry exceeds 50%. “The world market share of technical textiles is even higher, he underlined. - It is high time we created a programme for development of technical textiles in Russia, and take it more seriously. We import technical textiles in large quantities and do not produce as much as other countries”.

Andrey Razbrodin also noted the high-tech and innovative nature of technical textile production, the support and development of which in the Russian Federation requires expenses and certain benefits from the state.

Evgeny Kotov, Chairman of the Souzlegprom Committee on Nonwovens and Nonwoven Products, President of Whole World OOO, opened the discussion by stressing the importance of establishing a civilized market of technical textiles in Russia, which would be fully protected from counterfeit and fake products. It is equally important for the government to protect national manufacturers, who have lost the opportunity to supply their products to many foreign markets as a result of sanctions, while Western manufacturers continue to supply various technical textiles to Russia. This conviction was expressed by Evgeny Kotov and supported by all the participants of the Souzlegprom Committee meeting.

Different aspects of technical textile production development and state support mechanisms were discussed in their speeches by Dmitry Varshaver, Deputy General Director of Netkanika OOO, Ildar Garaev, General Director of Cotton Club OOO, Natalia Oshchepkova, General Director of S2Group OOO, Elizaveta Repkina, Deputy Director of Technical Department of Nonwovens Factory ‘Whole World’, and many other representatives of companies participating in Russian Textile Week.

After the Souzlegprom Committee meeting on nonwovens, the same day the programme of the INLEGMASH International Industrial Conference included a panel on cooperation of textile companies in the post-Soviet space, a technological session ‘Recycling as a production process. Green Technology’ and a sewing master class on advanced capabilities of graphic applications for sewing companies.

The second working day of the INLEGMASH International Industrial Conference ended with the discussion ‘To bring or to train professional staff: assessment of the labour market capacity in the industry’, which focused on the issues of providing the industry with competent and motivated professionals capable of ensuring its development.
