Vladimir Putin calls for stimulating textile industry’s development

Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared the need for stimulating the development of new textile industry enterprises. The head of the state specified the areas of activity of industry agencies and organizations at the textile industry development conference. “It is important to support the growth of business activity in the domestic textile industry, encourage new effective production facilities, and, of course, solve the systemic problems which hinder efficient development of the industry,” the president said.

In addition, Putin proposed that a subprogram be adopted to boost production of natural materials in Russia. “To my knowledge, there is a deficit on the domestic market and […] their quality is often not good enough,” the president said. “We need flexible solutions which will encourage domestic production of raw materials and help meet the current demand,” he said.

The Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov, Head of the Russian Union of Entrepreneurs of the Textile Industry Andrey Razbrodin, and General Director of the Russian Union of Tanners and Footwear Manufacturers Alexandra Andrunakiyevich took part in the conference. The event took place in Ryazan where Vladimir Putin paid a working visit. The president toured of a local tannery’s workshop. He is also due to meet with acting Ryazan Region Governor Nikolai Lyubimov.
